We spend a lot of time at this community, participating in their events, and have witnessed firsthand how much each employee, even ancillary employees, deeply care for their residents in a way that you're more likely to see in a smaller community. They have a lot of great activities, plentiful community events, a beautiful property, delicious chef-prepared food, but most of all they have heart!

Ahwatukee is a closely-knit community that enjoys a small town feel in a big city. LivGenerations Ahwatukee was the perfect addition to that culture because of their focus on the community. LivGenerations enhances the culture by delivering communities that are village-style and appeal to the surrounding neighborhood. Sometimes when I’m working out in the field I like to pop in to the Tük Cafe for a coffee or bite to eat. They are currently in the process of adding shops in front of the property. This village-style community helps to ensure that the seniors living there continue to make meaningful and enriching connections and experience less isolation. I really love that LivGenerations perfectly meets the needs of an independent resident but also considers that the same person may need care in the future. They have licensed all of their independent living apartments for assisted living and have made the rooms in such a way that they easily convert to be handicap accessible. This means that you don't have to worry about changing apartments once you begin to need a little help. They also have a great transitional program in their memory care which is filling a gap left by traditional assisted living communities. Their transitional memory care is great for people who need a little bit more oversight but still tend to be fairly independent.

Sometimes clients ask me where I would place my own family. They are usually happy when they hear that both of my grandfathers and my great aunt lived at La Siena. La Siena is a beautiful community in North Central Phoenix. People who have lived in Phoenix for a while will remember the location as the old Bud Brown’s Barn. They pay homage to Bud in the form of a Happy Hour at Bud’s Pub every evening and it is usually packed with residents having a great time. This is a very lively community with a lot of social activities. They also do a really great job of tailoring care to each person and can give as much or as little care as needed. Every caregiver, maintenance person, administrator, waitstaff, housekeeper, and staff member that we encountered while my family was there, was courteous and professional. I would not hesitate to place a loved one there again.

Walking into Legacy House of Avondale is the perfect mix of elegance and comfort. It is the most beautiful community that I have found on the west side of town. This senior living community is very involved with the surrounding community and hosts educational and for-fun events throughout the year. A secret weapon of theirs is actually the Dining Services Director. He makes everything from scratch, including smoking the salmon for lox himself. One of the things that stands out to me about this facility is that the staff is very happy. Happy staff leads to employee retention and that leads to better care.
