Lovely, new facility, but appearances are deceiving. Beware of the lack of care and attention to residents here. Tremendous staff turnover. Numerous issues from improper medicine management to care that doesn't approach that outlined in the patient's care plan. Poor communication. Some staff not properly trained in basic care practices, leading to conflict and misunderstandings with residents. Lack of stimulating daily activities. Inconsistent schedules for bathing, administering medicine, checking on residents, etc. Slow or non-existent response to concerns, including the following: lack of consistently warm water for showering; very heavy apartment doors that quickly slam shut; elevator doors that close after only a few seconds; no landlines for residents who can't use smart phones. Strongly suggested that you look elsewhere for the well-being, safety, and care of your loved one.

After a rocky year, this facility is now thriving with its new Executive Director Lindsey Hughes. She has introduced numerous positive transformations and properly trained the care staff, and implemented effective changes. Brittney at the concierge desk is a valuable asset to this community and has been instrumental in creating a welcoming environment since the facility's opening. We appreciate her positive attitude, warm smile and extensive knowledge that she uses to effectively address any questions or concerns we might have. The kitchen staff has also demonstrated notable improvement, displaying a friendly demeanor and taking time to engage with residents and families. Excellent work, Rockbridge Oaks. Tremendous NEGLECT in memory care! Our mom went without showers regularly. They tried to say that she refused. The truth was that if my mom said she was not ready to get out of bed in the morning, that would be considered a refusal of a shower. I requested her shower records and each time they told me that they did not keep them, or they were internal documents that I was not entitled to. They tried to use dry shampoo to cover up her greasy hair. It was not uncommon for my mother to stay in bed for half the day and then wander her room all night long. She did not get her clothes changed, her teeth were not brushed, she missed meals occasionally, and missed many activities if they even happened. The staff is just not trained to deal with dementia. They don’t know how to phrase a sentence to coax a resident out of bed and into the shower, or to an activity. My mom had some pain medication that was supposed to be administered as needed but we had to have the doctor chang
