The 20 Best Assisted Living Facilities in Mesa, AZ

My parents moved to the citadel 5 plus years ago. It was a wonderful place then. The people were happy. It was clean, (although the wallpaper, carpet and furniture needed to be replaced). The staff and Executive Director were interactive with the residents and knew their names. The food was great. There were many options to choose from and the portions size was good. There were at least 2 medtechs on each floor along with 4 or more caregivers to take care of the residents each shift. The communication between the Executive Director and the staff was great due to the willingness to listen to one another and work together to make things run smoothly and at its best. The Executive Director knew everyone, but what made him stand out was his willingness to go the extra mile to help others. By others, I mean the residents and the staff. For instance when the kitchen staff was short handed he got in, took orders, cleaned off tables, and did what needed doing. He also would Executive Director worked side by side with care taker helping a resident & empty trash, etc. This Director had good people and leadership skills. Things have changed. There've been 5+ different directors/managers. Concerns from residents, relatives of residents & staff to those in management positions fall on deaf ears. Food options and portions are much smaller. MANGEMENT did away with security guard & trimmed down staff: 1 cook and 2 servers for 100+people, caretakers & medtechs-1 each on bottom floor, 1or2 mdtk & 1or2 caretakers top floor. MEDTECH DUTIES: intake of meds from provider, organize & distribute correct meds to residents, Help caregivers, mandatory paperwork! CAREGIVER DUTIES: Baths, falls, Bathroom help, poop/pee & vomit clean up, take residents back & forth to meals/activities, answer residents call, pickup trash. HEAD NURSE & OPERATIONS MANAGER should recognize the DANGER of UNDERSTAFFING these important positions! I CAN'T recommend the Citadel

One of the best group home in East Valley. Exceptional team that is caring, responsive and warm. Highly recommend them.

Do not under any circumstance but your loved one in this facility. They do not get watched. They do not get bathed. They don't get medication when they're supposed to. And the food is about the only thing Good going on. All the management in this place should take advice from the kitchen manager. Ty he seems to know what he's doing. The bossy redhead brought with the glasses up front like her name starts with a k She needs to go. She needs to quit running her mouth outside thank you. Will be removing loved one out of this facility

My families experience at Peaceful & Comfort was wonderful during my dad's over 2 years as a resident. We were welcomed like family friends and my dad was very well cared for. The staff engaged with him, kept him clean and well fed. Their management worked with my dad's Hospice nurses to keep his medications on point and to address any new issues. He was safe and comfortable which was a huge relief for my mom. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a quiet, home-like atmosphere.

I am the brother-in-law for one of the Assisted Living residents at Grand Court Mesa. Since an unfortunate fall by our loved one early in 2024 while in independent living, we moved her to the hospital, to the rehab center and then to a care home for several months. At the care home, with which she was desperately unhappy with the care team and her accommodations in a shared room, she was visited by Denise Jacobelli, the nurse practitioner from SCAN. Ms. Jacobelli recommended to us that for about the same monthly cost, my sister-in-law could move into Grand Court Mesa Assisted Living. After reaching out to Grand Court's Community Liaison, Rachel Thrasher, we quickly determined that she could move into their Assisted Living for a marginal amount more, given her situation, and in her own apartment! Of significance, the staff at Grand Court was extremely helpful in getting our loved one qualified for ALTCS--huge!! Very happy with our experience!
