Always ranking in the top 10 states to retire to, Florida is a welcome respite from cold and icy winters. If you’re thinking that Florida might be the best place for you to spend your retirement years, you certainly wouldn’t be alone. The state caters to older adults, featuring some of the best senior living communities in its top cities.

But if you don’t necessarily want to spend your days at the beach or sweeping sand out of your car, consider retiring to inland Florida. Cities like Orlando draw tourists as well as retirees thanks to opportunities to dine, shop, and be entertained.

Perks of retiring in Orlando

When you think of Orlando, you likely think of DisneyWorld, and for good reason. Mickey and friends welcome more than 161,000 people per day, and that number doesn’t include visitors to Orlando who come for Universal Studios or other attractions. What does this mean for retirees? It means there are plenty of ways to find part-time employment that is both fulfilling and fun. If keeping busy is one of your retirement goals, you’ll have no problems finding extra work in one of the most magical cities in Florida.

In addition to work opportunities, living in Orlando means taking advantage of Florida’s retirement perks. The state has no income taxes and doesn’t tax retirement accounts or pensions. There is also no estate or inheritance tax, which just adds to Florida’s retirement-friendly status.
