The Capstone Battery Park City

My uncle moved into Battery Park last year when it was still being run by Brookdale. It's now run by a new company called Sunrise. We are happy with the service.

I told management that i wanted to sign a lease in september and that i did not want to live in the unit next to the smoker- the smell was very strong. they told me that if i signed and put down a deposit, i would be provided with 'preferential pricing' and any rent increase would be based on the lower rental price. i was surprise to find out that my deposit actually meant i now was responsible for the unit which was unfortunatly next to the smoker. my clothes and furniture now smell and my grandkids don't like to visit. the elevators and hvac are often down and staff turnover is very high- my favorite staff members have left. The last straw was when the rent increased 10% in december with just the legal amount of notice- 30 days. The previous year, the rent increased 11%. This is an aging building and management needs to spend a lot to keep it maintained - you can see from the pool and common areas that it has been under maintained. i am moving out after 3 months. avoid.

The engagement program and social program are incredible. Meditative Mindfulness and coloring to social hours.

Such a great and vibrant community. They even have a pool.
