The Henry Senior Living, formerly Brookdale West County receives mixed reviews, with both positive and negative feedback from residents, families, and visitors. On the positive side, many reviewers praise the facility for its clean and well-maintained environment, friendly and caring staff, and a variety of amenities such as a library, hair salon, and movie theater. The dining experience is often highlighted, with some noting the quality and variety of food. Activities and social opportunities are appreciated, contributing to a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Several reviewers commend the staff's attentiveness and the community's efforts to foster a close-knit environment. Conversely, some reviews express dissatisfaction with the care provided, particularly in the memory care division. Concerns include medication errors, inadequate staffing, and poor communication between staff and families. Some reviewers report negative experiences with the administration, citing unresponsiveness and rudeness. Issues with cleanliness, food quality, and high staff turnover are also mentioned. A few reviews describe serious incidents, such as neglect and improper handling of medical needs, leading to hospitalizations. Overall, while Brookdale West County is praised for its facilities and some aspects of care, there are significant concerns about consistency in service quality and staff performance, particularly in specialized care areas. Potential residents and families are advised to carefully consider these mixed experiences when evaluating the facility.

Things did not work out well for our Mom at Brookdale West County. After a week at this facility, she is now back in her house with her son and brother to see to her immediate needs. It would have been great to keep her close to home, but the situation was so bad here that future plans involve taking her out of town to be sure that she is getting appropriate care. For anyone looking into Dementia care in West County St Louis, we DO NOT recommend Brookdale. We were with her there most of the time during the week she was there, and staff was inadequate. Activities involving these residents were minimal, and inappropriate. The place is in the middle of administrative transition, and no one was enforcing policies. Residents were suffering as a result. The facility is beautiful, but don't let that fool you. In the end, it is about the staff and the care they do (or in this case do not) provide for your loved one.
