The reviews for Belmont Village Oak Park present a mixed picture. Many reviewers praise the facility for its warm and welcoming environment, attentive staff, and variety of activities. The cleanliness and maintenance of the facility are frequently highlighted, with several reviewers noting the bright and airy rooms. The dining experience is generally well-received, with some describing it as restaurant-like with a good variety of food options. The presence of on-site medical services and a strong sense of community are also appreciated by many families. However, there are significant criticisms as well. Some reviewers express dissatisfaction with the management, citing issues like favoritism, nepotism, and poor communication. Concerns about understaffing and inadequate training for dealing with dementia patients are mentioned, along with complaints about the quality of food and lack of activities for certain residents. A few reviews highlight negative experiences with specific staff members, particularly in HR and administrative roles. The cost of care is another point of contention, with some families feeling that the services provided do not justify the high fees. Overall, while Belmont Village Oak Park receives commendations for its caring staff and engaging environment, there are notable concerns about management practices, staff training, and value for money. Recently went on a tour here. The staff was helpful and the facility seemed nice. I am not sure about whether this would be a good fit for family cos it's hard to tell from a short visit. I wished they did a trial stay program

The place is neat and feels safe, which is a relief. The staff? They're like family to my uncle, always friendly and kind. He loves the activities and the food's usually good, though sometimes hit or miss. But, there are times when he's frustrated with communication and the level of care. It's like they forget to call back or don't listen to his needs. Plus, the rooms are a bit cramped. And, he's not sure if it's worth the cost. Despite the ups and downs, he's mostly happy there, but he thinks there's room for improvement.

Montgomery Place Retirement Community

From $3,960/mo

8.9
5550 South Shore Drive, Chicago, IL, 60637
Assisted Living · Memory Care · Independent Living · Skilled Nursing Facility · Continuing Care Retirement Community

We understand that choosing a senior living community is one of the most important decisions you can make for yourself or a loved one. At Montgomery Place, our vision has always been to provide seniors with a welcoming, comfortable, and enriching place to call home. Here, our residents, their families, and our staff are all integral parts of our caring and compassionate community. For more than three decades, Montgomery Place has been counted among the best senior living communities in Chicago. Located in the heart of Hyde Park, our lakeside community serves as a beautiful setting for residents to make memories, build lasting friendships, and experience the best of life. At the heart of the Montgomery Place mission is a dedication to enhancing the quality of life of every member of our diverse and inclusive community. We believe that when each individual's social, intellectual, physical, cognitive, and social needs are met, a truly authentic joy and sense of contentment can be found. Here, our five core values serve as our guiding force: integrity, dignity, engagement, caring, and quality. With a firm belief that the wonders of the city of Chicago can uniquely contribute to the health and healing of the mind, body, and spirit, Montgomery Place takes great pride in making a difference in the lives of our residents and the community as a whole. Today's modern senior living communities offer a wide range of benefits, serving as a wonderful place for seniors to enjoy a full and happy life. In an independent or assisted living community, seniors are provided with many opportunities for social interaction, enrichment, and more, encouraging a productive lifestyle that supports both their physical and mental well-being. For many seniors and their loved ones, one of the biggest benefits of assisted living or independent living is the focus on health and safety. Both their advanced age and living alone can put a senior at risk for accidents, injuries, medical emergencies, disasters, and even crime. However, in a senior community, safety and security is typically a top priority. The communities are designed with seniors in mind, incorporating accessibility and mobility features, medical alert systems, added security, medical staff, and more. As we age, making meaningful social connections can often be difficult, and loneliness for seniors is a common cause of depression and other serious issues. Even with friends and family nearby, seniors can begin to feel isolated in their homes. In an assisted living facility or independent living community, seniors can stay socially engaged with a variety of activities. Communal meals, art and music classes, group outings, fitness sessions, happy hours, and other social events provide the social interaction that is so vital to age happily. For many seniors, living independently is a burden that comes with worries of home repairs, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation. Even daily tasks and personal care can become frustrating, making day-to-day extremely difficult. At an assisted or independent living community, there is a support staff there to provide peace of mind in every way. From everyday chores and property maintenance to grocery shopping and personal care routines, it can all be left to a professional - giving your senior loved one more time to enjoy the present. Located in Hyde Park, this property offers all levels of care and several different payment options. It is a longstanding community right on the lake. Lots of activities and outings for all levels of care. We have a lot of shared spaces and restaurant-style dining, as well as a pool. Very nice option, great to start independently here.…
