My mother lived in assisted care at the Watermark at East Hill for 4 ½ years until her passing in early 2025. At first, everything seemed fine. About 6 months into her stay, things changed—initially small things like the nurse assigned to my mother not responding to messages or answering questions. In fall 2023, my mother fell in her apartment and fractured her hip. After a brief hospital stay, she was admitted to The Springs within the Watermark for rehabilitation. Members of her care team at The Springs said my mother was walking and would need a lift chair in her room. When I visited her after she returned to her apartment, I discovered that she could not stand, and she could not walk. When I took her to an orthopedic doctor for a follow-up visit after her hip fracture, the doctor knew that my mother was not able to walk, as did the radiology technician. I never felt the same way about the Watermark after this occurred and added my mother to some waiting lists at other facilities.
