Merrill Gardens Senior Living
Founded in 1992, Merrill Gardens is fifth-generation family owned, with roots that stretch back into the 1890s, long before many were thinking of senior care as something that took place outside the home. Founder Richard Dwight Merrill originally moved to the Pacific Northwest to profit from the lumber industry, something still honored today in the naming of Merrill Gardens' sister company Truewood by Merrill, which offers more affordable senior living options. This rich history in excellence has helped Merrill Gardens to expand across the country, to 52 locations across 19 states.
Headed by Chairman Cole Wright and President Tana Gall, Merrill Gardens offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care at its wide variety of communities. Recognizing that the best care comes from content employees, Merrill Gardens has been recognized as a great place to work by organizations like Great Place to Work Institute. Some communities have won design awards while Merrill Gardens overall has been recognized for its use of technology, and for the hard work of its women in leadership.
In partnership with Google, Merrill Gardens installed 1,000 Nest Hub Max devices in their Washington communities in 2020. These devices helped residents stave off feelings of isolation and take part in virtual concerts and shows. Merrill Gardens believes in helping seniors stay connected with each other and with family and friends. Encouraging an active lifestyle with signature programming, Merrill is also committed to helping residents age in place, and even offers a satisfaction guarantee.
