About The Argyle
Since 1874, The Argyle has been committed to its founding principle of promoting dignity through compassionate care, human contact, and nurturing, supported by a dedicated team of staff, board members, volunteers, and partners. This commitment extends to fostering independence and preserving the dignity of residents, with a staff well-versed in the challenges of aging, always ready to assist while empowering residents to lead fulfilling lives.
The Argyle began as The Old Ladies Home in downtown Denver in 1875, created by philanthropists for a retirement community that was inclusive regardless of financial status. By 1900, it moved to the Berkeley/Highlands neighborhood, adopting the name The Argyle to reflect its new home. Despite renovations and a new building in 1990, The Argyle has preserved its historical roots and homey atmosphere, keeping the original facade and restoring over 200 pieces of furniture and artwork, ensuring it remains a cherished, welcoming community for its residents.
