Encourage or accompany him to community and social events. He might find others who will introduce him to new interests and hobbies.

It's not uncommon for some seniors to not be engaged in their communities, due to a change in lifestyle or lack of interest in activities. Some possible solutions: volunteering (which keeps one engaged while feeling good about giving back), finding old favorite activities, or even finding a new hobby! We also covered this in: https://www.seniorly.com/blog/2015/keeping-seniors-active-in-their-new-housing-community. Hope it helps!
