Please do not place your elderly parent or loved one at The Gardens at Marysville. Our experience has been extremely disappointing and, at times, alarming. We moved our mother into this facility about a year ago and informed staff that she needed to be transferred to memory care as soon as a space was available. We were told she would be placed on the waiting list, and we were even given a tour of the memory care unit by the sales staff. Now, they are claiming that we removed her from the list because they decided she didn't need memory care—without ever speaking to us or honoring the medical and family input. One of the most troubling issues is safety. My mother is a smoker, and the facility backs up to a Fred Meyer store. We found out that she was walking there alone daily to buy cigarettes. We immediately requested that she only go out in the company of staff or a group, and were reassured this would be enforced. Yet, shortly after, my mother called us from Fred Meyer—alone again—
