Senior Retreat at Stonehaven

I am very pleased with the Stonehaven location. I know my parents will be taken care of.

We had parents in one of the Senior Retreat homes for about a year. The sales pitch was great, the follow up was not as great. We thought being in a smaller environment would be better for them. Compared to their previous assisted living facility, Senior Retreat was good about finding ways within COVID regulations to have worthwhile visits with our parents, and we appreciated that. Basic care and meals were adequate. The staff members in the house were always pleasant and friendly. Activity and stimulation were problems. The contract promises 14 hours a week of activities. Even allowing for COVID-related restrictions, very little was offered. Most of the times when we arrived to visit, they were in bed, in their pajamas. They were not engaged in any way and really just left to sleep all day. They had a nice big room, but maintenance was often a problem. When we moved our parents in, there were a number of things that needed repaired or replaced. Some of these took many requests and months to fix. The worst of these problems was when it took 10 days to get the power working in their room after an August storm. We were out of town and were not informed. Only when another family member came to visit did we learn of this, and an extension cord was pulled into the room to connect a light and fan. Poor communication from the staff was a recurrent problem.
