Message from Canterbury Court

Canterbury Court was the first continuing care retirement community in the Atlanta area and we remain committed to our leadership position. A faith-based, non-profit organization, we welcome all people age 62 and older to enjoy affordable independent living in our gracious community and the assurance of our quality continuum of care, as needed in the future.Canterbury Court was established as a non-profit home for the retired in 1965 through the visionary efforts of Frank Player and Margaret Hancock. Members of Atlanta’s All Saints’ Episcopal Church and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, respectively, they solicited the help of their rectors to sponsor All Saints’-St. Luke’s Episcopal Home for the Retired, Inc., also known as Canterbury Court. As a role model for full-service continuing care retirement communities, Canterbury Court has expanded and evolved over the years, anticipating the need to remain attractive and desirable to new generations of residents. Today, our three towers include the original North Tower, opened in 1965; the South Tower, opened in 1991; and the West Tower, opened in 2005. The buildings overlook one of the most-loved features of our 11-acre campus – our expansive gardens – and are connected, offering easy access to a wide range of amenities and common spaces for resident use.
