Ginger Cove

Ginger Cove is a life-care retirement community organized and managed to provide individuals 60 years of age and older an independent lifestyle that meets their unique needs, while granting them the freedom to pursue their personal interests. Its essential components include a private apartment, a wide array of personal services, and the security of an on-site professional heath center, all combined with a sound financial plan. Home to 350 residents, Ginger Cove consists of 234 spacious one and two bedroom independent living apartments and is licensed to provide higher levels of care in 51 assisted living and 55 comprehensive care beds. A safe haven for residents since 1988, Ginger Cove has a strong Wait List and substantial financial reserves.

Ginger Cove is owned and operated by Annapolis Life Care, Inc. (ALC), a not-for-profit corporation. It has its own elected, volunteer Board of Directors, four of whom, by charter, are residents. ALC filed its Articles of Incorporation with the office of the Department of Assessment and Taxation of Maryland on May 31, 1982. It is recognized as an organization exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and is not affiliated with, and does not receive financial support from, any religious, charitable or other nonprofit organization.

ALC has two wholly owned subsidiaries: Ginger Cove Foundation, Inc., a tax-exempt foundation formed in 2002 by ALC to engage in charitable fund-raising activities for the support of ALC, and Ginger Cove Home Health Care LLC, a limited liability company that operates a residential service agency licensed by the State of Maryland.

Ginger Cove is proud to be accredited, since 2001, by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CCAC), a nationally respected program recognizing financially sound and well-managed retirement communities. Only 16% of retirement communities nationwide currently hold this prestigious designation. It is a mark of quality, integrity and a standard for comparison. Ginger Cove is the only CCRC in Anne Arundel County to have earned CARF-CCAC accreditation.
