Watermark Retirement

Founded in 1985, Watermark Retirement Communities, has been dedicated to creating extraordinary and innovative communities where seniors can thrive for the last 41 years. CEO David Barnes has been working in senior living since 1988, when his first job required him to live in senior living communities as an operational troubleshooter. Since that time, Mr. Barnes has worked to deliver consistently great experiences to the residents in Watermark's care.

Recognizing the need for a more fulfilling and engaging senior living experience, Watermark focuses on providing a lifestyle built on choice, fine amenities, integrative wellness, and innovative programs. Among these offerings is the award-winning Watermark University, featuring a wide variety of engaging classes for residents and area seniors. Watermark is also committed to serving the broader community through its nonprofit organization, Watermark for Kids, which helps underserved young people build character, strengthen leadership skills, and express creativity. The company has been named in the top 25 Best Workplaces for Aging Services by the Great Place to Work Institute, and is ranked as the nation's 9th-leading senior housing operator by the American Seniors Housing Association. The Hacienda at the Canyon is a great place to live. This place is the epitome of beautiful southwest design, and aside from how it looks, the staff are caring and the amenities are wonderful. The food is great and there are always activities going on. It is definitely on the pricier side so there is a trade-off, but for me that cost is well worth it.

I moved my mom into The Preston of Park Cities in October, and we have been very happy with the care she has received so far. The staff is really fun to be around they really seem to care about the residents. The atmosphere is cozy and familial, and the food is also good as well. If you're struggling with the decision I suggest doing a tour of this place and you can really get a good feel for it.

I am very happy that we chose The Fountains for my grandmother. The staff are wonderful and very caring and she has really enjoyed her time there. My grandmother has one of the cottages which was very nice - for her it felt almost like her home that she moved from. Lots of green space and very well maintained. She loves being part of the community.
