The Green Hills’ Story
Green Hills Retirement Community sits on a beautiful green 30-acre campus in a relaxed natural wood setting minutes from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Landscape features include a pond, wildflowers, paved walking trails, a garden, and a therapeutic fountain.
The idea for Green Hills came in 1976 during an ISU Alumni Association brainstorming session about ways to serve ISU alumni. When the feasibility of a retirement community seemed impossible, the Foundation sold the land to three developers and the idea for a retirement community was reborn.
Green Hills was built in 1986. The first townhome residents moved in February 1986 and the midrise apartments opened November 1986.
The following year, the Green Hills Health Care Center opened. In 1988, Life Care Services was asked to manage Green Hills.
And, we have been building for your future ever since.
