About Traceway Retirement Community

Thank you for visiting our web site. I hope you find it an informative and helpful resource for learning about our organization. Mississippi Methodist Senior Services has over a 50 year tradition of providing housing and services to older adults in Mississippi. We have one mission: to serve older adults in the spirit of Christian love. Our nearly 1,000 employees and 2,700 volunteers make that mission their prime focus. Today, we serve more than 1,800 elders in our 12 independent living, personal care ad skilled nursing care retirement communities, with campuses that range from almost the Tennessee line to the Gulf of Mexico. We intend to make Mississippi the best place in the country to grow old. As a recognized leader in the care of elders, MSS opened the nation’s first Green House® homes on our Traceway campus in Tupelo. The Green House® Project philosophy is a distinctive approach to delivering care based on the Eden Alternative Principles developed by Dr. William Thomas. Each residence is a “warm, smart and green” home where 10 elders live together and receive the skilled care they need on a daily basis. Elders have their own private bedrooms with a private bath. A kitchen and dining room complete the hearth area where elders can participate in the activities of daily living, including setting the table, assisting with meals or simply enjoying a cup of coffee at the dining room table while meals are being prepared. We hope this is just the beginning of transforming long-term care of elders throughout the nation. Our vocation springs from God’s call to honor and respect the elders. We share a mutual ministry with, and are related to, the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church.
