My mother was a resident a the Grandview for only one week. When she fell one evening, I was not notified til the next morning. The facility was understaffed and employees were having to help out in many capacities to cover. Meals were often served late and the menu lacked in creativity. During all of these experiences, there seemed to be little to no concern for our disruptions or inconveniences from management. Got the feeling that I was bothering them with questions and concerns. It was not a friendly environment once we signed on the dotted line. Something was just off. Mom did not get the care I was expecting when I moved her there. I would not recommend it to someone looking for a safe and pleasant place for a loved one.

Pretty facility because it’s new, but that’s where the positive stops. Resident care, know how and passion isn’t there. Organization and management of every phase doesn’t exist including the basics such as meals. Frequently run out of food. Executive Director is excellent at quoting the protocols BUT that’s where the excellence stops, the protocols aren’t in practice. She will take your words out of context when you complain to point the problem back at you. Your concern will be ignored. Staff in every area isn’t trained. Staff turnover is tremendous. Staff is spread too thin and asked to perform too many varied tasks will poor results. Administrative phone calls and/or communication will not be returned. Activities calendar is a facade. Movie theater can’t be utilized because the sun shining in the windows has such a glare you can’t see the screen. Grandview has been inconsistent with enforcing the leash requirement for dogs. Dogs allowed to defecate inside and outside without the owner cleaning up. Staff didn’t know to sanitize carpet after dog defecated on it. During CoVid, didn’t test my mom. When I called to let them know, I was told she had been tested and negative when she hadn’t, said she just forgot. This is what they say to the residents and family when you hold them accountable, “oh she just forgot.” Or “you don’t remember,”. Not everyone has a short term memory problem. Also during CoVid the dining room was closed and residents were to eat meals on their rooms, my mom was missed in serving multiple meals. I have tried to be understanding and to help Grandview be successful as my mom is higher functioning and mobile but the disappointment keeps getting worse and I personally don’t appreciate the condescending attitude. They work and are suppose to be there for our loved ones. Beware as they sell you a pretty package but that’s where it stops. Don’t expect what they say they offer to actually happen. Oh regarding the laundry and room cleaning expect the laundry to be lost and to receive the wrong items and rooms not to cleaned in over two weeks. I have seen memory care residents left alone in the main dining room after a concert resulting in anxiety attack. The list goes on and on. This place is still undergoing immense opening implementation difficulties with a first time director who just isn’t equipped. I discourage you from putting a loved one here. They simply are not up and running.

My loved one was a resident in the memory care section, and our experience could have been so much better. Tammy, the activities director was wonderful. However, the majority of the staff needs training in memory care. I think the staff is hired and then thrown into the workplace without any training. Not to mention the management staff is the worst. They do not take a family members concern seriously and are ready for you to be dismissed from the office when you do bring a concern. I was told they have video footage of an incident that occurred, but then could not produce the footage when we asked to see. Poorly managed and so glad our loved one is out of there!
